Reflection on Google Web 2.0 Tools

During this semester, we have studied Management Information System course. The first project that we have to do was training students about certain subject from Google Web 2.0 tools. My training subject was about blog. Each student has to train the classmates on specified subject such as Google chrome, Google Docs, etc. Moreover, we also had another project were we have to use the blog in order to post in our personal diaries, videos or articles. The second part of this project was to use the Google Site in order to reflect on to what we acquired from the training session. Thus, I used Google Site in which I created more than 10 pages for Google tools. In each page, I attached screenshot where I explained how I am implementing the specified tool. In this post, I will demonstrate my reflection on Google Web 2.0. I arranged and ranked them from my best favorite tool to my least favorite.

1.Blog: 

Due to the fact, that I was confused what to select from the Web 2.0 for my training topic, my teacher have chosen for me “Blog”. In that moment, I thought the blog will be hard topic for me to train the student. I also thought that this tool will be like dream weaver which I really do not enjoy using it. However, when I started to search about the blog, I found various cool staff about it. Hence, when I begin utilizing the blog, it caught my attention and it became my favorite tool. Also after implementing the other tools, I ranked the blog as my best tool. Blog was very enjoyable for me where I adored sharing my personal moments with my friends and public. I also liked changing and editing my layout and template. One of the enjoyable staff in blog was adding cool gadgets. Overall, I am planning to continue posting my diary in this blog.

2. Google Chrome:

The second tool that I enjoy using is Google Chrome. After attending the training session of Chrome, it I made it my default browser instead of Internet explorer. It has various benefits where other browser does not have. It is characterized by its speed and the ease of use. I also enjoyed using Chrome Web Store where it enabled me to download various applications such as games. I also enjoyed changing my theme. It is really very beneficial for me and fantastic.

3. Google Docs:

After attending the training session, I was amazed that there is a tool that will help me to communicate with my friend in an easy way when dealing with files and projects. I frequently use Google Docs to import files related to my college projects and share them my group members. Google Docs have saved my time a lot as it is an effective tool to use for group projects.

4. Google Calendar:

I realized that Google Calendar is a useful tool to track my events. I use it to organize my events related to college base projects and my personal life. I also installed it in my cell phone. It is very easy to use.

5. Google Searching:

In my point of view, Google searching is essential tool in my life. I use it for majorly for college and personal staff. I enjoy searching for cooking books and videos. Attending the training session enabled me to use Google search in more efficient way. For example, I learned how to search for certain domains. I also learned how to search for specified type of files such as PPT or Doc.

6. Gmail:

I deal a lot with emails in college and in my personal life. I enjoyed the features of Gmail such as labeling and filtering messages. After creating my Gmail account, I have switched from Hotmail to Gmail. I am also planning to use my Gmail account as an official email for my resume and other staff.

7. Picasa:

I enjoyed using Picasa for modifying pictures and creating videos. It is much easier than movie maker, in term of creating videos. I enjoy creating collage for group of pictures. I also adore filtering personal photos.

8. Google Earth:

I used Google earth to view locations and building. It is an easy tool to use where you write the name of the place in the search bar and after seconds it will appear for you. Unfortunately, I do not enjoy using staff such as searching for location and maps even in my car; I have never used the navigation. However, what I liked about Google earth is viewing building or location in 3D.

9. Social bookmarking (delicious):

I enjoyed using delicious as it facilitated me to store links in stacks and share it with my group members. This tool was very useful for me as I used it to share links about the industry project with my colleagues. 

10. Google Sites:

It is an easy tool where it enabled me to create a site. In reality, I do not enjoy creating a site since it takes a lot of time.

11. Twitter:

In my life, I have never enjoyed use social website sine I always thought that using social website is something complicated. After using twitter, I felt that it is very simple device to use and I really enjoyed using it. I also liked the way were we are able to retweet and share information with our friends. Moreover, I followed UAE News in order to track the news about UAE.

12. Facebook:

 Although I use it to increase awareness about a specified topic for my project, However, I believe that twitter is much more enjoyable.

13. Google Reader:

Although Google reader is beneficial tool; however, I do not enjoy using it.

Overall, I ascertained that MIS course was very beneficial for me as it enabled me to acquire and learn new tools that I have never used in my life before. The training project has introduced me to various tools that I strongly believe that I will use them in my daily life. I enjoyed this project a lot.

During the weekend, I was busy working on various projects such as Industry project and Google site project. Thus, I wanted to take rest from the projects and learn how to make buttermilk biscuits. I watched this video to acquire the steps on how to make buttermilk biscuits. 

My friend’s Baby Girl

On Thursday 17 May 2012, my classmates and I were waiting for my friend’s delivery, so at 11:00 Am one of my classmates sent for me a message to inform me that Rabab has delivered her baby girl. I was very happy and immediately I called my mom tell her the news. 

 On that day, we finished college early, so I went with my mother to Mercato in order to buy a gift for Rabab's baby girl. I was planning to buy for the baby girl jewelry, thus I went to Liala Jewelry shop in Mercato. I found several nice gold necklaces and bracelets for small babies. I was confused what to buy for her so I chose one of the necklaces. Afterwards, my mother and I went to the Patchi store to buy a box of chocolate. After completing the gift, I went back home. In the evening, I went with my mother and sister to visit Rabab in the hospital.

My Hobbies

A hobby is a consistent activity or interest that is undertaken for pleasure, normally done during one's leisure time. Engaging in a hobby can lead to acquiring substantial skill, knowledge and experience.

In my life I built my hobbies by practicing them. One of my hobbies is reading books especially stories. In English, I like reading romantic and fiction stories. On the other hand, I adore reading historic stories in Arabic. I also enjoy scanning cooking books in both languages Arabic and English.

To gratify myself and the people around me, I like to bake homemade meals and sweets. In my free time, I enjoy staying in the kitchen and baking delicious dishes. My favorite thing that I adore doing is making sweets such as chocolate cake and cheese cake. For the lunch, I like to prepare a mouthwatering salad with my own Italian sauce. I also enjoy learning new and different cooking meals. For instance, sometimes I surf through the internet for new cooking dishes.

Moreover, one of my favorite hobbies is travelling overseas. I like to travel to new places and acquire new knowledge about the countries. When I visit new country, I appreciate learning about the ritual and customs of the people living in that country. I adore staying in places where the weather is raining and cold. My dream is to travel to a place where I stay in a farm instead of a hotel so that I can enjoy the farm living.

SeaWorld Theme Park In Australia

One of the amazing places which I visited with my family was SeaWorld in Australia. This park is renowned for its excellent location, superb facilities and friendly staff. One of the things that I really enjoys in my life is watching animals shows. Due to this fact, one of the fantastic shows in Australia that I adored was the Dolphins show. I was really amazed about the dolphins' reaction with the trainers. I also went to the penguins show where the trainers were responsible of feeding the small penguins. In addition, the park also included some interesting games and entertainments.

My Brother and Cousin's Birthday

On Friday, we had a birthday party for my brother and little cousin. We celebrated in my Aunt House. The party was wonderful since most of my cousins and aunts have attended the party. I enjoyed the food and especially the chocolate cake. There were also some interesting games for kids and gifts. I really had fun and during the party I totally forget about the tests and projects that I have to do.

Yesterday, I started to read the case study for Project Management, It was a boring and at the same time confusing since it talked about engineering matters which totally not related to my subject.

Last Summer Vacation

Last summer, I traveled to turkey with my family and spent 10 days in Istanbul. This was the first time for me to visit turkey. We stayed in Hotel Marmara it is in the middle of the city. In the first few days, the weather was nice and rainy and I really enjoyed standing outside when there was rain.

I visited several old museums and places. For example, I went to Hagia Sophia it is a famous museum where it was converted from a church to a mosque and then finally to a museum. I was astonished with the design of Hagia Sophia. It included different designs and textiles such as calligraphy, arabesque and sacred geometry. The interior design of Hagia Sophia was decorated with mosaic, marble pillars and coverings.

I also visited other musuems such as Topkapi Palace museum. This palace t was the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans.The palace included many traditional things and it also included some of the gifts granted to the Sultans. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures.

Shopping in Malaysia

One of the coolest things which I enjoyed in Malaysia was shopping. I visited several malls in Kuala Lumpur such as Mines Mall beside the Palace of the Golden Horse. In this mall, I bought for my sisters some shoes and clothes. I also bought many shoes for me. Later, when we moved to Sunway Lagoon, I spent most of the time in the Sunway Lagoon Mall. During my shopping journey, I found nice t-shirts for my little brothers so I bought for each one different color. Beside this, my husband found some nice wallets and bought 3. When we moved to Grand Millennium Hotel, we found various shopping malls. I bought for my mother as well as my husband mother some bags from Sembonia store. Moreover, I visited the Twin Towers and went to several stores. Overall, I enjoyed shopping in Malaysia since I found various malls and centers.

Travelling to Malaysia

Last week, I traveled with my husband to Malaysia and stayed in Kuala Lumpur for 7 nights. We visited three different places. In the first 2 nights we stayed in the Palace of the Golden Horse. This hotel is like a resort were we can go to the mall by the shuttle. Thus, many people who stay in this hotel uses the shuttle to go to the Mines Mall. The place was very beautiful and the weather was very nice since every day in the morning the weather was rainy. These are some photos of the place:

In the third day, we moved to Sunway Lagoon and we stayed in Sunway Resort Hotel. The best place that I enjoyed was Sunway Lagoon. Our room was executive room and the hotel was very fancy. I enjoyed the breakfast since it included various dishes and fruits. Beside this, I enjoyed the location of our room since we can see the waterpark from the window. During the fifth day, we moved to another location which is in the middle of the Kuala Lumpur city. We stayed in Grand Millennium Hotel. This place was crowded and there were many Arabian people especially from Saudi Arabia. I visited various restaurants and malls. In this city, we found many Arabian restaurants. Since I was bored from the fast food I started to eat from various Arabian restaurants. The journey was very nice since I visited various places and met different people.
